Breathe & Sleep To Live Mantra

Whenever the proper amount of gas is withheld from the lungs, and carbonic acid takes its place, the quality of the blood is impaired from incompleteness of the change effected in the lungs, and the vigor of the body must in this way be lessened to say nothing of the deleterious influence of this gas upon the nervous system. Though the results are not immediate and palpable, great injury is continually done to the health.

DR. RAVINDRA CHANDRASHEKHAR, MD, MSEE, FACP

Dr. Chandrashekhar was born in Bengaluru, India and has been residing in the United States since early childhood. He grew up on the East coast before attending the State University of New York at Buffalo where he received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Mathematics. He worked in industry at NASA in Houston, Texas as well as at Alcatel Telecom. Dr. Chandrashekhar then earned an M.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of Texas at Dallas.

Upon entering the field of medicine and completion of his Internal Medicine Residency, he went straight into a competitive Sleep Medicine Fellowship at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute at the JFK Medical Center in Edison, New Jersey. He was trained by international experts – Arthur Walters, MD, Sudhansu Chokroverty, MD FRCP and et al.

His clinical interest is the Link Between Sleep Disorders and General Internal Medicine. Other research interests including Obstructive Sleep Apnea, Facial Imaging for Sleep Apnea for Airway Analysis, Cephalometric Analysis, Hypersomnia and Biomedical Engineering. He has developed PranapedicsTM to help with airway analysis.

By identifying problems as a sleep specialist, Dr. Chandrashekhar hopes to bring his dual training in engineering and medicine to bear on improving the quality of life or perhaps to definitively cure patients with sleep-disordered breathing in the future. He likes to use a multi-team approach with the aid of dental professionals, weight management, clinical psychologists and surgeons (ENT & OMFS) when necessary.
